Djanet Practical Guide

Everything you need to know to prepare your trip to the Algerian Sahara.

Formalities & Visa

Visa required. Valid passport 6 months after return. 🇫🇷 France: Consulates (Paris, Lyon, Marseille...). 🇧🇪 Belgium: Embassy in Brussels. 🇨🇭 Switzerland: Geneva Consulate / Bern Embassy. 🇨🇦 Canada: Montreal Consulate. We provide the invitation letter and necessary documents for your application.

When to go?

The best season runs from October to April, with pleasant temperatures of 15°C to 25°C during the day. Avoid summer when temperatures exceed 40°C.

How to get there?

Direct flights with Air Algérie from Paris (CDG/Orly), Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, Nice to Algiers. Connections from Brussels, Geneva (via Algiers or Paris) and Montreal (direct Algiers). Then domestic flight Algiers-Djanet (2h30).

What budget to plan?

Count between €500 and €1500 depending on duration and type of experience. The quote includes guide, accommodation, meals and local transport.

What to bring?

Lightweight cotton clothing, hat, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, headlamp.

Health

No mandatory vaccines. Recommended: Hepatitis A/B, Typhoid. Bring a basic first aid kit.
